Mother-in-Law Pierces Baby's Ears Without Mom or Dad's Permission
Family drama at its finest and the argument of differing parenting styles.
One family visit turned into a parenting nightmare when a grandmother made a permanent decision without asking first.
The parents had already talked about what they were comfortable with, including ear piercing, and they did not want it done without their say-so. But when the baby was picked up, the mother noticed the piercing had already happened, and the fallout was immediate.
Now the family is split, and the question is simple: was this a harmless tradition, or a serious breach of trust? Read on.

More people seem to be siding with the mom.
It clearly seems that people are on her side regarding this.

Your family should respect your decisions about your child, and if they can't, then they shouldn't be around your child.

Traditions can be newly created. You don't have to adhere to the same traditions your family had; create your own.

That point lands with a lot of readers.
People are asking about the culture because, apparently, that's a common tradition among many families.

It's nice to see all of the comments in unison about the situation.

After reading this story, I think we can all agree that the mother-in-law was definitely in the wrong. Parents seem to constantly have to fight about decisions made for their children, but they shouldn't have to do this.
What do you think about this story? Was the mother or the mother-in-law in the wrong?
Boundary crossed, trust broken.
Wait until you see how she set boundaries with her critical mother-in-law, and it blew up.
