I (28F) have a neighbor (40sF) who recently got a dog, a beautiful Husky named Luna. Luna often barks and howls, and my neighbor's yard is a mess with trash scattered around.

A few days ago, Luna managed to escape the yard and wandered into my backyard. I saw that she was dirty, matted, and seemed hungry.

I fed her, gave her water, and cleaned her up. I tried to return Luna to my neighbor, but she seemed disinterested, saying she was too busy and that Luna could roam free.

I was shocked by her neglectful attitude towards the dog. I've grown attached to Luna in the short time she's been with me, and I can't bear to see her neglected.

I've decided to keep her safe and cared for in my home. My neighbor found out and is now demanding I return Luna to her, claiming she's her property.

She's threatening to involve legal authorities. AITA for keeping Luna away from my neglectful neighbor and providing her with the care she deserves?
