50 Old People Who Should Be Supervised Online
Listen, technology can be confusing; help your elders avoid embarrassing themselves.
Social media has changed the world and how we connect with one another. No longer are we forced to communicate by mailing a letter or passing notes around.
If you want to connect with a friend, you can just tweet, DM, snap, or text them. Unlike before, when you had to call a friend on a landline without knowing whether or not they were even home, or worse, answer phone calls with no caller ID and hope it was someone you liked and wanted to talk to.
For many millennials, we couldn’t imagine lives without social media, as we came of age alongside technology, and Gen Z grew up in a technologically advanced world. However, there are folks who are having a difficult time with the ever-evolving technology, especially social media.
Think of your aging parents or grandparents opening a web browser and typing “google.com” into the address bar, spending what feels like HOURS navigating to the top hyperlink to take them to Google, only to then type the URL of the website they want into the darn Google search bar.
It’s maddening, but they’re trying! And there’s something so funny and oddly charming about elderly people using social media that there’s a subreddit dedicated to their antics, called r/oldpeoplefacebook, with a whopping 1 million members and growing.
We collected some of the best posts shared there and elsewhere around the Internet, so keep scrolling to see more.
