Bridezilla Tells Bridesmaid to Give Her the Necklace She's Wearing and Punishes the Bridesmaid When She Refuses

The bridesmaid asked Reddit if she's at fault for saying no to the bride on her special day.

One bridesmaid’s necklace turned a wedding day into a full-on standoff, and the bride was not willing to let it go.

The story came from the Am I The A**hole subreddit, where user BlueRoses95 asked whether she was wrong for refusing to remove a necklace at her friend’s request. The problem started when the bride decided OP’s jewelry looked better than her own and wanted it for herself.

Things only got messier from there, and Reddit had plenty to say about who was really out of line.

This is the necklace that almost caused a war.

Basically, OP was invited to the wedding, where the only people she was familiar with were the bride's immediate family. The loving fiancé who was supposed to attend the wedding with OP got COVID and decided to stay at home.

OP's fiancé gifted her a necklace during the fifth anniversary of their first date. The gifted jewelry was for OP to wear at the wedding.

When the bride saw OP's necklace on the day of the wedding, she decided it was better than the one she was wearing and demanded that OP give it to her. The bridal party agreed that it could be her something borrowed.

Since the necklace was a gift from her fiancé, who couldn't attend, OP was reluctant to part with it. She politely informed the bride that she would not lend her the necklace.

The bride was upset and told OP to remove the necklace at least for the pictures because she didn't want anyone to have better jewelry than her. Again, OP said no because she wanted to show her fiancé that she wore it during the wedding.

For the duration of the event, everyone basically ignored OP, including the bride's family. The bride's sister then told OP that she was rude for not lending the bride her necklace.

It sounds like the same kind of wedding standoff as the friend who considered skipping until the conflict was settled, AITA for refusing to attend?

That request was already pushing it.

Are you with Reddit on this one? Or did you think OP could have avoided all of this if she had just given in to the bride's demands?

It's one thing to ask your friend to support and help you on your wedding day. It's an entirely different ball game when you demand they remove jewelry and other things they're wearing to make you the center of attention.

You would think a bride has something better to do on her wedding day than worrying about her bridesmaid's necklace. Apparently not.

What do you think about this wedding day fiasco? Are you team bride or team bridesmaid?

Let us know in the comments! We'd love to hear from you!

That wedding turned petty fast.

Wait, it gets worse, read how a cousin demanded OP lend their grandmother’s necklace.
