30 Tweets of People Who Regret Being Nice and Working Really Hard Only to Be Taken for Granted
These individuals have learned the hard way to acknowledge the worth of their efforts.
We often hear the quote, "Kill them with kindness," but for some people, being kind was not the best option. Their kindness was not reciprocated with rewards; rather, it was abused and taken advantage of by their bosses, coworkers, and even friends.
It's undeniable that competition exists at work. However, when working in a team, healthy competition and collaboration should be encouraged to increase productivity among members.
Unfortunately, the opposite has occurred for those who have shared their sad realizations after years of being excellent and exceeding expectations. Some have lost interest in being good after all their experiences and realizations.
A viral Twitter thread created by Dr. Kate Lister, a lecturer in the School of Arts and Communication at Leeds Trinity University, allowed people to express how they came to realize their mistake of being too good and hardworking toward others while receiving nothing in return. Although this is not always the case, a simple act of appreciation should suffice; yet, no one was as generous as they were in doing so.
Various experiences have taught them different life lessons from which others can learn. Scroll down to read and gain insights from these individuals.

It's never wrong to be good, but people should limit how much they give away. Failure to set boundaries leads to abuse.
Kindness shouldn't only be directed toward others but also toward oneself. After all, how can you be kind to others if you're not being kind to yourself? It's the same as saying, "You cannot give what you don't have."
