Roommate Excludes Me From Vacation After Saving Together: AITA for Refusing Rent?

AITA for refusing to pay rent after friends excluded me from shared vacation savings, leaving me torn between feeling betrayed and financially burdened?

A 28-year-old woman says her two roommates and close friends saved for a group vacation together, then quietly planned to leave her behind. Now the money, the rent, and the friendship are all tangled up in one messy dispute.

She says she contributed equally to the vacation fund, even while dealing with medical bills and tight finances. But after overhearing A and B talk about a luxury trip she supposedly could not afford, she asked for her share back and was told no, because the money was meant for the vacation.

Now she is wondering whether refusing to pay rent is the only way to make them take her seriously. Read on.

So I'm (28F) living with two close friends, let's call them A and B. We agreed to save up a portion of our monthly income for a group vacation.

Each of us contributed equally to this savings pool. We were excited about the trip and had been looking forward to it for months.

For background, I've been struggling financially due to unexpected medical bills, and every penny counts for me. Recently, I overheard A and B planning the vacation without me.

They were discussing luxurious accommodations and expensive activities. When I asked about it, they admitted they wanted to exclude me because they thought I couldn't afford the trip.

They claimed they were doing it for my own benefit. I felt hurt, betrayed, and left out.

I confronted them about this and asked for my share of the savings back since I wouldn't be going on the trip anymore. However, they refused to return the money, saying it was meant for the vacation and I had agreed to contribute to it.

They expect me to still pay my share of the rent as well. I'm torn between feeling like they were looking out for me and feeling excluded and mistreated.

Given my financial struggles and the emotional toll of being left out, I don't feel like paying rent is fair, especially since it includes the money I saved for the trip. So AITA for refusing to pay rent under these circumstances?

I honestly don't know what to do at this point. So AITA?

That vacation plan took a sharp turn.

People were not exactly sympathetic to the roommates.

Kind of like the poster who refused to split travel costs after friends picked luxury accommodations, A and B’s “equal” plan is the real fight.
