My friend group knows about my allergies and my recipe modifications. However, some of them started making snide comments about my 'weird' food choices and how they 'would never eat that.' It hurt me because I put a lot of effort into creating tasty dishes despite my limitations.
Recently, we had a potluck, and I brought my signature allergy-friendly dish. One friend, let's call her Karen, made a face when she heard it was allergen-free and refused to try it.
She even went as far as saying, 'I don't trust food that's so different.' It was a slap in the face. After the potluck, a few friends asked for my recipes so they could try making them at home.
