Mom Thought That She Could Pay Her Child's Babysitter With 'Ice Cream and Fun' But The Babysitter Was Not Having It
One teen shared her experience with a mom who thought she was too entitled to pay cash for babysitting services. The audacity!
Some people really do try to turn paid help into a favor, and that rarely ends well.
In this story, a mom agreed to pay her babysitter $16 an hour, then later tried to swap that deal for a day of fun and free ice cream. The babysitter was not interested in being paid in snacks, especially after keeping screenshots of the original conversation.
Things escalated fast, and the messages that followed made the whole exchange even messier. Read on.
Parents often forget that taking care of their kids is their responsibility and joy, not a job for others. They can’t expect babysitters to do it out of sheer joy. This story was originally posted on Reddit, and we can clearly see that the mom agrees to pay the babysitter $16 per hour.
RedditYou are not mistaken. She is really trying to pay the babysitter with a “day of fun” and “free ice cream.” Fortunately, the babysitter had screenshots of the previous conversation.
It’s also like the friend who refused to pay for a messy dog grooming bill.
RedditThe conversation heated up when the mom accused the babysitter of being “stuck up” for simply asking for the amount they had agreed upon. It would be great if the babysitter could take her to small claims court. Is there a lawyer in the house?

This mom blocked the babysitter immediately after that, so the last message was not delivered. Blocking is the main weapon of those trying to get away with, essentially, stealing. What is especially annoying is the use of the c-word. It is not enough that she got away without paying; she had to insult the poor babysitter too. We really hope that the babysitter found a way to get paid and that this mom got what she deserved.
What do you think?
Wait until you see why a friend pet-sitting exit turned into a payment fight, the OP who didn’t get paid after an abrupt leave.
