Fans Of Stuart Little Are Perplexed After Learning That He Is Not A Mouse
"Everybody noticed that he was not much bigger than a mouse"
We've all grown up watching the classic 1999 family comedy film, which centres on Michael J. Fox's character Stuart the mouse, who is adopted by the Littles and initially rejected by his new human brother George (Jonathan Lipnicki). In the endearing story we all know and love, Stuart overcomes these obstacles, finds his position, and wins over his new family—well, not quite.
Snowbell, the family cat, is even less excited about the new addition. Well, fans of Stuart Little are going crazy after learning that the adorable little figure in the show is not, in fact, a mouse.
As we say, audiences are only now understanding how different our movie's hero is from the 1945 American children's book of the same name by E. B. White, the renowned author of Charlotte's Web. Stuart is adopted in the film series, which includes Stuart Little (1999), Stuart Little 2 (2002), and Stuart Little 3: Call of the Wild (2006).
However, this isn't the case in the book. White had this to say in the novel:
"When Mrs. Frederick C. Little's second son arrived, everybody noticed that he was not much bigger than a mouse. The truth of the matter was, the baby looked very much like a mouse in every way.
Fans of Stuart Little, get ready to be astounded with this huge revelation
"He was only about two inches high, and he had a mouse's sharp nose, a mouse's tail, a mouse's whiskers, and the pleasant, shy manner of a mouse."Stuart appeared and behaved like a mouse when he was "many days old," according to the novel, even though he was "wearing a grey hat and carrying a small cane."
ColombiaTherefore, if the novel is any indication, Stuart is merely a human boy born to Mrs. Little; he frighteningly resembles a mouse. Not only did he have mouse-like characteristics, but he also had actual whiskers, was two inches tall, and resembled a rodent—a fact that is actually more bizarre than the movie's plot.
The unexpected revelation that he is a mouse-like boy rather than a boy-like mouse has prompted fans to respond on social media. Are you still with us?
A fan had this to say on Twitter: "I’ve just now learned that in the STUART LITTLE book, Stuart is not actually a mouse but a human boy who looks like a mouse, and I don’t know how to process this."
Instead of being a boy-like-mouse, he is actually a mouse-like-boy if you get what that means

A second commenter wrote saying: "Well, wtf is he???" While a third person agreed: "IT'S HELLO KITTY ALL OVER AGAIN."
"Whatever he was, he got adopted over children who needed a home," argued a fourth commenter while another person pointed out saying: "A boy-like mouse is exactly what Stuart Little is."
Another person questioned in a desperate way saying: "Okay. I think I can help here. If he “looks exactly like a mouse” then wouldn’t he, in effect, to all intents and purposes, be a mouse?"
