Since ancient times, individuals have created various artworks to express themselves and document their lifestyles and cultures. Nizar is a visual designer from Tetouan, Morocco, and he has been creating artworks for years.
For Nizar, modern art, which utilizes digital media, represents an evolution of traditional art. This is why he has sought to work with traditional art and blend it into a digital medium, much like the Renaissance artists who were inspired by elements from classical times to create their own works.
The artist employs digital collage techniques and applies them to classical works of art. "I use references to pop culture, such as well-known memes, renowned movies, fast food chains, current events (like the COVID-19 pandemic), brands, and more," says Nizar.
"I'm a traditional art lover because classic paintings allow you to time travel and catch a glimpse of a world that is now long gone. Adding a few elements from mainstream culture enables me to bring those bygone eras closer to the present day and view them from a different perspective," he added.
