Tempers Flare As A Teenage Girl Leaves Home After Telling Her 19-Year-Old Pregnant Sister She Will Be A Horrible Mother
The pregnant teenager uses her unborn child to manipulate their parents and excuse her terrible behavior.
Fighting with your siblings is one of the oldest traditions in any family. Some of these fights can be about siblings simply being siblings, or they can result from years-long feuds.
One Reddit user's fight with her siblings was a little more serious than your average petty squabbles. OP (original poster) is 17 years old, and her 19-year-old sister, Veronica, unexpectedly became pregnant.
OP stated that she would support any choice Veronica makes regarding the baby. Veronica decided to keep it, and their parents couldn't be happier.
Their parents work from 6 AM until late into the night, barely making it to dinner on time. Because of this, OP essentially raised their other three younger siblings while Veronica, the eldest, spent more time with her friends.
Growing up, Veronica was less than amicable toward her siblings and instead did her best to annoy them. For example, she wore too much perfume and insulted their appearances.
Whenever the siblings tried to fight back, Veronica threatened to abort her baby, and OP's parents came to her rescue. To them, Veronica could do no wrong, citing that she's "blessing them with their first grandbaby."
Moving on from the fight, OP began saving money to buy her 13-year-old sister a $110 perfume as a gift. Two days after OP gave it to her sister, Veronica picked a fight with the young girl.
Veronica took the pricey perfume as well as the other belongings of their sister and threw them off the balcony.
OP became furious after seeing Veronica smirking while causing so much damage, all while their young sister was crying. OP told Veronica to go f*ck herself, and the pregnant teenager retaliated.
She said, "I dare you to hit me! I'll get rid of this baby; I don't give a f*ck." OP was confused by Veronica's response, as the current issue had nothing to do with her unborn child.
OP replied, "I don't care what happens to that thing; you'd be an awful mother anyway!" Immediately, their parents rushed to Veronica's rescue, telling OP to either get over herself or move out.
So, OP packed her bags and moved in with her boyfriend. OP has been receiving phone calls and messages from her parents and Veronica, alternating between asking her to talk everything out and telling her how awful she is for saying those terrible things to her poor sister.
OP's boyfriend is telling her that her parents and Veronica are treating her horribly and that she shouldn't go back unless she truly wants to. OP's guilt is nagging at her, and she's doubting her hasty decision.
ResponsibleAbalone47Is OP the a**hole in this situation? You can read the original post below for more details:

OP was forced to raise her three siblings on her own because her parents neglected to set up proper care for them while they worked.

Their pleas for OP to come back home seem like barely disguised attempts to rope her into caring for Veronica's baby.
TrickInteresting8032
They want her to be the responsible adult in the house yet again.

If Veronica is this unstable while her baby is still unborn, how will she behave once she has to care for it?
HunterDangerous1366
Based on her actions, Veronica is just using the baby to manipulate her family.
Frequent_Inevitable
She's using it as leverage to get what she wants.

This is the only reply OP should consider sending.

If OP is settling in nicely with her boyfriend, there's really no reason for her to go back home.

From what we've read, it's not difficult to conclude what kind of mother Veronica will be.

If they love the fetus that much, they should really be more angry that she keeps threatening to abort it.
HiHoJufro
Crappy humans make for crappy parents.
shortstackginger
No matter what OP says or does, she will always just be a crutch for her parents to use.
Alita_Moonsong
It's the same with people who adore puppies but neglect them once they start getting bigger.
MotherSupermarket532
OP was treated unfairly and was forced to grow up too fast because someone needed to be an adult in that house.

We certainly hope things will get better from here for OP and her younger siblings.

OP's guilt is not really just about what she said to Veronica. She is probably not used to taking care of her younger siblings and worries about them.
She needs to learn that they are not her responsibility. It's not her fault that her love for them was turned against her and used as a way to guilt her into raising them.
