A Redditor, tylerthompson21, is building this adventurous camper truck in pieces you can actually see, from skateboard bearings used for the drawer slides to the removable frame bolts that keep the whole thing serviceable. The drawer locks, latches, and dividers show up next, then the battery hatches and inverter make it feel less like a project and more like a real, usable home on wheels.

Before the finished product even exists, you can practically feel the precision when those skateboard bearings get tested as drawer slides in the truck bed.

One of our favorite aspects is that the bedroom area may be used as a dining room, office, or hangout with friends. When you sit at the kitchen table, the swing-up side door lets in plenty of natural light, expands the area, and shields you from the weather. 

But this is a whole new way to save costs, and we love to see it.

Then the whole setup gets serious with bolted frame sections for easy removal, plus multiple locks and latches so the drawer does not slide around during a trip.

Once the battery hatches, primary and secondary batteries, and the inverter with USB ports are installed, it stops being a “cool idea” and starts being functional.

And when the swing-up side door brings in natural light for that bedroom-to-dining-room, office, or hangout flex, the camper finally feels like it has a personality.

Taking occasional breaks from our regular routines is beneficial, and you can accomplish this without having to board a plane or endure the chaos of the airport. Luxury trailers are experiencing something of a golden age right now, making it simpler than ever to live on the road without giving up many, or perhaps any, of the conveniences of home.
