Brighton Cat Tour sets out Sunday with 25 cats to meet and a shelter fundraiser

Brighton's cat walking tour returns Sunday with a 3km route, about 25 cats to meet and proceeds for City Cat Shelter.

A 3km walk through Brighton is being turned into a cat spotting fundraiser this Sunday. Organisers of the Brighton Cat Tour say participants can expect to meet about 25 of the city’s feline residents, with money from the event going to City Cat Shelter in Coldean.

The guided tour is due to begin at 10:15 BST and will pass through neighbourhoods where cat owners have volunteered to introduce visitors to their pets. Organisers have also said there may be extra sightings along the route beyond the cats already expected.

The walk is aimed at cat lovers willing to cover the distance on foot. Participants have been advised to wear suitable clothing and to bring snacks and water. They have also been asked not to bring cat food. Any cats seen on the route should only be fed with their owners’ permission, using food provided by those owners, organisers said.

The event follows strong interest last year, when 200 people took part. Organisers said 105 homes registered interest after a TikTok promoting the walk was watched almost 100,000 times.

Organiser Stefan Gutierrez said the Brighton walk was inspired by a cat tour in Toronto, Canada, that went viral in 2024. This year’s edition again raises funds for City Cat Shelter.
