Grieving Mother Asks Reddit If She's Wrong For Refusing To Let Her Stepdaughter Wear Her Late Daughter's Wedding Dress
"We were talking about wedding dresses, and she suddenly brought up Lauren's wedding dress."
If you're a sentimental person, you will understand how many memories and emotions can be attached to a physical item. An object with meaning can be priceless, no matter what its monetary value may be.
So, bearing this in mind, imagine how important a grieving mother might consider her deceased daughter's wedding dress. One Reddit user, u/67099107, recently shared her story on this topic in the AITA (Am I The A**hole?) subreddit.
The Redditor's daughter, Lauren, sadly passed away unexpectedly at a young age. "It was so sudden," the mother said.
"She was doing okay and was getting ready for her wedding that was supposed to happen the same month she passed away," she explained. Now, our OP's stepdaughter, Zoey, is preparing to get married.
"We were talking about wedding dresses, and she suddenly brought up Lauren's wedding dress," the Redditor said. "She then said she'd like to wear it at her wedding."
The grieving mother was understandably shaken by the request. "I felt uneasy," she recalled.
Our OP said no to her stepdaughter, but she turned to Reddit to ask if she was wrong to do so. As always, the Reddit community had plenty to say on the matter, so keep scrolling to see how they reacted.

It's no surprise that pretty much everyone agreed that our OP was not the a**hole here. Asking a grieving mother for permission to wear (and change) her late daughter's wedding dress seems insensitive, to say the least.
