Grieving Mother Asks Reddit If She's Wrong For Refusing To Let Her Stepdaughter Wear Her Late Daughter's Wedding Dress
"We were talking about wedding dresses, and she suddenly brought up Lauren's wedding dress."
A grieving mother’s wedding dress is at the center of a family conflict, and Reddit has plenty to say about it.
One woman, posting as u/67099107, explained that her late daughter Lauren had been preparing for her own wedding when she died suddenly. Now her stepdaughter, Zoey, wants to wear Lauren’s dress for her own ceremony, and the request has left the mother feeling deeply uneasy.
She said no, Zoey pushed back, and the disagreement quickly turned into a bigger family issue. Read on.
Reddit user, u/67099107, recently shared her story to the AITA (Am I The A**hole?) subreddit.

A lot of commenters came down firmly on her side.
Wedding heirloom pressure gets messy too, like the cousin who demanded the grandmother’s necklace, after someone chose to skip her wedding.

It's no surprise that pretty much everyone agreed that our OP was not the a**hole here. Asking a grieving mother for permission to wear (and change) her late daughter's wedding dress seems insensitive, to say the least.
What's your take on our OP's situation and how she has handled it? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below.
Some family keepsakes are simply not up for debate.
