Woman Asks Reddit If She's Wrong for Wanting to Tell Her Brother's Fiancée That He's Tracking Her Phone

No one has the right to invade another person's privacy—partner or not.

When we're in a loving and safe relationship, we share pretty much everything with our significant other. Sometimes, we may even overshare.

However, there are (or at least there should be) boundaries in any relationship. No one has the right to invade another person's privacy—partner or not. Dr. Ramani Durvasula, a clinical psychologist, emphasizes that "healthy relationships are built on trust and respect for each other's autonomy" on her website drramani.com.

So, when a woman overheard a disturbing conversation between her brother and her boyfriend, she understandably felt compelled to tell her brother's fiancée what she had heard. You see, the woman's brother had asked her computer-savvy boyfriend to install a hidden tracking app on the new phone he had purchased for his fiancée.

Our OP brought the matter up with her boyfriend, telling him that she wanted to warn her brother's fiancée about the app. But he told her to stay out of it and mind her own business.

So, the worried woman took her dilemma to Reddit, sharing her story in the AITA (Am I The A**hole?) subreddit. She wanted to know if she was wrong for wanting to tell her brother's fiancée what he was doing behind her back. As Dr. Sue Johnson, a couples therapy pioneer, notes, "When trust is broken, it can be difficult to navigate the complexities of relationships," which highlights the importance of addressing such issues openly. You can find more about her insights at iceeft.com.

As always, the Reddit community had plenty to say on the matter. Keep scrolling to read the story in full and find out what people had to say about it.

What's your opinion on this one? Is our OP in the wrong here, or should she absolutely tell her brother's fiancée what he's doing?

There's no denying that both the brother and OP's boyfriend are being deceptive. What right do either of them have to do something like that?

Relationships are built on trust, and sadly it seems there is little trust here at all. Leave your thoughts in the comment section; we would love to hear them!
