Man Ruins Friends' Trip After Publicly Making Friend's GF Feel ‘Unwelcomed’
"Not my sort of person but not someone I dread being around"
Traveling with friends can be a great way to spend time together, build relationships and trust, and create lasting memories. When traveling with friends, it's important to strike a balance between your own wants and those of your companions.
This frequently calls for negotiation and compromise. As an illustration, you might be willing to stay somewhere less expensive than you often would in order to help your friend.
This kind of compromise demonstrates to our friends how important they are to us, which fosters trust. That does not imply that we should give up on anything.
We won't be willing to make concessions in certain areas that are significant to us. Boundaries are crucial in this situation, especially if we recognize "people-pleasing" behaviors in our daily lives.
For the OP of today's story, he wasn't willing to pretend everything was okay when it clearly wasn't. You see, the OP and his three friends go on a trip annually.
They have always been pretty receptive to partners coming along or other friends. This year, one friend is bringing his long-term girlfriend, and another is bringing someone from his work.
The OP has chosen not to bring anyone this year, as he had a breakup a few months ago. The third friend, Logan, has asked to bring his partner, Sarah, but the OP had a huge problem with it.
He shared why in his story to the AITA subreddit grou,p and you can read all about it below.
The OP kicks off his story
RedditThe entire night, they were cracking racist, homophobic and all around prejudiced jokes
RedditIf she went, the OP knew he wasn’t going to enjoy his time as much as he would love to

The OP mentioned it first privately and his opinion was ignored

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the AH:
I said publicly in front of both of them that I didn’t want to be around my friends girlfriend, and that made them feel uncomfortable and made my friends girlfriend feel unwelcome and hurt. I might be the AH because I publicly embarrassed her rather than talking about it privatelyWe've gathered some of the most upvoted comments from other Redditors for you to read through below

What remains of who the OP is if he does not defend his morals and beliefs? It's excellent of the OP to confront that group of girls' racism and homophobic beliefs.
Some Redditors are of the opinion that the OP saying it directly to their face takes a lot of courage. The OP seems like a really good person, and many Redditors hope he can make better friends.
