Gravity Falls Fans Get a New Return to the Mystery Shack as Lost Legends Heads to WEBTOON in 2027

Gravity Falls: Lost Legends is coming to WEBTOON in 2027, giving fans a new digital way to read Alex Hirsch’s 2018 graphic novel.

Gravity Falls fans still hoping for a third season have a different kind of comeback to look forward to. Disney has confirmed that Gravity Falls: Lost Legends is coming to WEBTOON in 2027, bringing one of the series’ biggest post-show releases to a new digital format.

The update means fans will soon be able to read Lost Legends on WEBTOON rather than only revisiting it in its original graphic novel form. Disney announced the release during the Future of Digital Comics: Disney, Marvel, & WEBTOON panel at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

Originally published in 2018, Lost Legends was written by Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch and expands the world of the show without turning into a full Season 3. Instead of one long story, the book is built around four separate adventures featuring Dipper, Mabel, Stan, Ford, Pacifica, and other familiar characters from the series.

The collection is linked together by Shmebulock, the gnome usually limited to repeating his own name, who gets one night every 1,000 years when he can speak normally and tell these stories. The book was also shaped by a large group of artists, including Meredith Gran, Stephanie Ramirez, Asaf Hanuka, Jacob Chabot, Priscilla Tang, and The Owl House creator Dana Terrace.

For longtime fans, the move fits neatly with how Gravity Falls has continued to grow after the show’s two-season run ended in 2016. Journal 3 gave readers a deeper look at the mysteries Dipper spent the series trying to solve, and The Book of Bill revisited the mythology from Bill Cipher’s perspective. Lost Legends now joins that line of post-series material with a new release path.

The WEBTOON launch also extends Disney’s broader relationship with the platform, which began in 2025. Disney has already been adapting comics from across Marvel, Star Wars, and other parts of its library for readers who use phones to follow stories vertically and digitally.

So while this is not the long-requested third season, it is an official new way back into Gravity Falls. For fans who never really left the Mystery Shack behind, the change takes effect in 2027, when Gravity Falls: Lost Legends makes its WEBTOON debut.
