New Harry Potter Tease Is Only 10 Seconds Long, But It Spotlights One Big Hogwarts Tradition

HBO has released a very short new look at its Harry Potter reboot, and it uses those few seconds to focus on one of the Wizarding World's biggest set pieces. The teaser arrives before a longer trailer due on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, as the series heads toward its winter launch on HBO Max.

The new clip runs for 10 seconds and puts Quidditch at the centre of the action. Rather than revealing major plot details, it offers a fast montage tied to Hogwarts' best-known sport. Viewers see students pounding the tables in the Great Hall, then a glimpse of Harry and Hermione at the Quidditch pitch. It ends with the Gryffindor team grouped together for a pregame ritual.

That makes this latest release less of a story-heavy preview and more of a mood piece, giving audiences another look at the rebooted world before the full trailer lands on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026. The show is set to debut this winter on HBO Max.

The series brings Warner Bros. back to Harry Potter roughly 15 years after the original movie saga concluded. Dominic McLaughlin is stepping into the role of Harry, taking over from Daniel Radcliffe, who first played the character on screen in 2001. He is joined by Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger.

Season 1 will cover the events of J.K. Rowling's first Harry Potter book and will use the title Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the original name used for the book's UK release in 1997. HBO had already shared an initial trailer in May 2026, which introduced McLaughlin's version of The Boy Who Lived and other major additions to the franchise while keeping many plot specifics under wraps. That footage suggested a fresh take on Hogwarts while still returning to some familiar imagery, and this new teaser pushes that approach a little further.
