Italian Man Goes On A 450 Kilometer Long Walk To Cool Off After Fighting With His Wife

When the police officers stopped a walker at 2 a.m. for violating the country’s lockdown curfew regulations, they couldn’t believe he had walked so far, but he had a very good reason.

An argument at home turned into a 450 kilometer walk across Italy, and the reason is almost too strange to believe. A 48-year-old man from Como ended up in the news after police stopped him during lockdown and realized he had been walking for days to cool off after fighting with his wife.

He made it all the way to Fano on the Adriatic coast, covering roughly 280 miles on foot and reportedly relying on strangers for food along the way. By the time officers found him, he was tired, cold, and still somehow calm about the whole thing.

Then the missing-person report, the curfew fine, and the wife’s long trip to pick him up made the story even messier.

When the police officers stopped a walker at 2 a.m. for violating the country’s lockdown curfew regulations, they couldn’t believe he had walked so far. However, after checking his name in the database, they discovered that his wife had actually reported him as missing seven days earlier in their hometown. “I came here on foot; I didn’t use any transport,” he allegedly told the police officers. However, he confessed that he had no idea about the mileage he had covered.

He told the media that he received food from strangers during his impressive stroll, in which he covered around 40 miles a day (about 60 km). He told the policemen that he was “fine, just a little tired.”

Italy has imposed a movement restriction from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. to cope with the second wave of Covid-19, so the wife who came to get her spouse had to pay the €400 ($485) fine he was issued for violating the rules.
