Roommate Refuses to Flush: AITA for Asking Her to Clean Up?

"Roommate refuses to flush toilet, sparking debate on responsibilities and retaliation - AITA for asking her to do it? Intriguing Reddit thread awaits!"

Some roommates treat “flush” like it’s optional, and this one girl apparently took that personally. OP came back from a weekend away and found the toilet still unflushed, again, and the smell and gross factor hit immediately.

It’s a two-person PG, so OP is stuck sharing a room with her roommate, and apparently OP has to constantly remind her to flush after she uses the bathroom. This time OP called her out while she was outside watching a cricket match, and her roommate basically replied: it’s just a button, so why can’t OP do it?

Now OP has to decide if she should keep asking, or just flush it herself and wonder if she’s becoming the “problem” roommate.

AITA ? Hi I live in a 2 sharing pg where another girl shares a room with me.

I have to constantly tell her to flush after she used the toilet This time I had went out for the weekend and now I am back and see that she has left the toilet unflushed again. It makes me grossed out.

I call her and ask her where is she and tell her she has not flushed the toilet. She says she is outside watching a cricket match and can't come and asks me to flush it as it is just a button to press for flush.

I talked to my pg maintainer but he said the cleaner is on leave today as it is Sunday I talked to my best friend also about this and he is also suggesting me to just flush it. Should I just do it and use the bathroom..

what would you suggest

OP isn’t just annoyed, she’s dealing with a pattern, because the toilet was left unflushed again right after she got back from her weekend trip.

When OP calls her roommate and catches her mid-cricket match, the roommate hits back with the “it’s just a button” excuse.

OP even checks with the PG maintainer, but the cleaner is on leave since it’s Sunday, so there’s no backup plan.

Her best friend tells her to just flush it, which makes OP wonder if she’s stuck cleaning up after the cricket crowd too.

If OP keeps flushing to avoid the drama, her roommate might never feel the need to flush at all.
