Unable To Tolerate Sociopath MIL, Pregnant DIL Puts Her Foot Down, Gives Husband Ultimatum
..."If she isn’t out by April 1st, I am."
It's great that family members love to help when needed, but what happens when their help isn't required or requested? There's a thin line between helping and crossing boundaries that we all should be aware of.
Nevertheless, not everyone who wants to help has malicious intent; some genuinely want to be there and witness the joy they're helping you with.
However, that's not the case for ctkkay, who was overwhelmed by her sociopath MIL's presence at home. According to ctkkay, her MIL came to visit and was supposed to stay for two months, but she overstayed her welcome by 14 months!
She says, "My MIL was supposed to stay with us for two months; it’s now going on 14. I’m 27 weeks pregnant, due mid-May. We need our spare room to build the nursery." Her MIL was supposed to leave on April 1st, but without telling anyone, she changed her mind and decided to stay.
ctkkay obviously wasn't thrilled with an overstaying MIL and said, "... that isn’t an option because I need to make my nursery, but I didn’t want her to feel like I was 'kicking her out,' so if she needs a couple of extra weeks, she could take it, but the sooner, the better."
But the MIL wouldn't take no for an answer. To make matters worse, the MIL only speaks Mandarin.
We'll let ctkkay tell you her story...

The world responds...
Obviously, if someone posts a thought on Reddit, the world will respond with all kinds of advice and opinions. This is what happened in ctkkay's case too.
Although some people recommended divorce, this is usually not good advice. It can be applicable at times, but it's generally the last resort.
