For many people, Pirates of the Caribbean is the first place they hear about it, with Calypso, Davy Jones, and the doomed bargain that tied him to the sea. The story sounds simple at first, but the more people pick at it, the messier it gets.

One Tumblr thread found a loophole in the curse, and once you notice it, the whole thing gets a lot more interesting.
