Debating on Rehoming a Friends Dog: AITA for Prioritizing My Dogs Safety?
AITA for rehoming my friend's dog due to safety concerns, causing tension in our friendship?
A 28-year-old adopted a rescue pup named Luna and finally thought life was settling down, until a “temporary” favor landed on their doorstep. Their close friend Alex needed help with Alex’s dog, Max, because their living situation fell apart, so OP agreed to watch Max for a bit.
That’s where the problem starts, because Max isn’t just “a little rough.” OP knew he was aggressive toward other dogs, and sure enough, Luna paid the price. Max caused chaos in the home, Luna got stressed, and then came the bite that left Luna with a nasty wound.
Now OP is stuck deciding between saving their relationship with Alex and keeping Luna safe, and the argument over Max’s rehoming is getting ugly fast.

So I (28M) recently adopted a beautiful rescue dog named Luna. Luna has brought so much joy into my life, and I couldn't be happier.
However, my close friend, Alex, has been struggling with their living situation and isn't able to keep their dog, Max, anymore. Alex asked if I could temporarily look after Max while they sorted things out, but I knew Max and Luna wouldn't get along due to Max's aggressive behavior towards other dogs.
I hesitantly agreed to help Alex. Fast forward a few weeks, and the situation with Alex hasn't improved.
Max's behavior has caused chaos in my home, and Luna is stressed out. The final straw came when Max bit Luna, leaving her with a nasty wound.
I realized it wasn't safe for Luna to have Max around. I approached Alex and told them that I couldn't keep Max anymore.
Alex was devastated but understood the situation. I decided to rehome Max to a family with no other pets where he could be happy and safe.
However, when Alex found out that I rehomed Max without consulting them further, they were furious. They accused me of betraying their trust and not caring about Max's well-being.
They demanded that I bring Max back immediately. I tried to explain my reasons, but Alex wouldn't listen.
The situation has strained our friendship, and I'm torn between wanting to help my friend and prioritizing Luna's safety and well-being. So AITA?

This mirrors the Reddit debate where the OP wrestles with letting their sibling adopt the family dog they raised, prioritizing Max.

OP agreed to take Max in anyway, even though Luna and Max were never going to be besties.
After weeks of chaos and one bite that left Luna injured, OP finally told Alex Max couldn’t stay.
OP rehomed Max to a no-pets home, and that’s when Alex went from “please help” to “you betrayed me.”
Now Alex is demanding Max back immediately, while OP is trying to justify choosing Luna’s safety over their friendship.
How would you handle this situation? Let us know in the comments.
OP might have saved Luna, but now they’re wondering if helping Alex at all was the real mistake.
Wait until you see why the OP refused their stepsister from adopting the rescued family dog.
