Woman Sells Her Ex-Fiancé's Expensive Family Heirloom After He Cheated on Her Weeks Before Their Wedding
To be fair, she did it because he wouldn't pay for the wedding costs.
There is literally no excuse to forgive an ex-partner who cheated on you, and this kind of behavior should not be normalized in the 21st century. Unfortunately, many people remain unfaithful to their significant others and would gladly sacrifice their relationships for a sneaky third party instead.
Cheating will never be acceptable, and once someone finds out, the relationship should automatically be severed—no excuses. It not only severs your ties with that person, but it also leaves you with an empty, wandering mind and a broken heart that asks: Where did I go wrong?
However, most of the time, revenge is the best payback for these cheaters. Often, they bring karma upon themselves, right to their faces.
That's what happened to this woman's ex-fiancé—ex because he was caught cheating by a mutual friend just weeks before their wedding. Naturally, the wedding was canceled, but the woman was left with not only a broken heart but also the debt of their wedding costs, which amounted to more or less $20,000.
Everything had already been booked, and most of it was non-refundable. If the costs weren't paid, the woman would be left in debt unless her ex helped her cover the expenses (it was still going to be his wedding, after all).
However, things took a different turn when the man refused to help pay the costs, so she did what she had to do: she bribed him to help her pay, or she would sell the family heirloom ring he used to propose to her to settle their debts.
Check out the highlights of her thread on Reddit below.
She posted it under the r/AITA subreddit and received several mixed reactions.

Here's the deal.

The next day, she actually sold the ring. She told him that she shouldn't have underestimated her.

As expected, the man reacted harshly and cursed her out. He demanded the ring back, but the woman already had proof of purchase.

He then proceeded to say some pretty mean things.

Do you think she's the asshole in this story?

This commenter says she isn't. To be fair, she did give him a choice and a chance.

This commenter also agrees that OP is not the asshole. Let's face it, this wouldn't have happened if he hadn't been a cheating scumbag in the first place.

NTA, but she has some poor money management.

Moral lesson: NEVER cheat.

Hoping things won't take a wrong turn now...

Double oops.
Reddit
Umm, he cheated. She didn't just cancel the wedding for no reason.

Relationships, marriage, engagements—everything is messy in the adult world, especially when cheating is involved. Love, anger, and betrayal can make people do some pretty stupid things, but most of the time, their feelings are valid.
